Nordic Congress in Leksand, Sweden

Nordic Bookbinding Society will organise a joint Nordic Congress the 8th of August 2026. The Congress will be held in Leksand Folkhögskola, Sweden. We are also planning to organise a workshop 6th– 7th of August 2026.

MEMBER’S MEETING

NBS is happy to organize online members’ meetings to bring our widespread community closer, for inspiration and to spread knowledge and tricks of trade. 

The latest meeting was held on the 6th of November 2025. YouTube guru Darryn Schneider from DAS bookbinding, Australia, gave us a presentation on covering box corners. Darryn has created a YouTube video with the same subject.

Earlier Big Events

2025 The Nordic Nature exhibition is organized by Nordic Bookbinding Society in collaboration with the Icelandic National and University Library and the Icelandic bookbinders (JAM-group). 59 entries altogether from all the Nordic countries and even beyond was displayed at the National and University Library of Iceland in Reykjavik. The exhibition was open from 23^rd of April until 1^st of September 2025. Take a look at the entries!

2022 Bookbinders and book artists were invited to Leksand to talk about the future of handbookbindery, book-craft, artist’s books and the concept of our countries’ previous collaboration; the exhibition Nordic Bookbindings. The meeting proposed a working group that began the work of forming the Nordic Bookbinding Society.

One of our society’s core issues revolves around education and the cultural heritage within the art of handbound books.

We have collected links to longer educations, shorter courses and ways to become an apprentice, journeyman or master in our Nordic countries. This is an ongoing project.
